What started as a Newgrounds video project in 2010 is now a novel!

Heartspark started off as a project for Newgrounds known as Second Fiddle eight years ago. It made it as far as concept art and draft script before being scrapped to continue work on a third Perpetual Workday (which also was never finished). The idea merged with another aborted Flash project called Antihereos (no, not that one), and over the years developed into Heartspark, the first book of the Echo Suite Saga.

It's here if you're interested in checking it out.

I'm not on here as much as I'd like to be these days (and I'm way too intimidated to submit things now, cause you guys are crushing it in ways that would have blown my mind 10 years ago).

Thanks for being such a supportive community! You guys are an inspiration.

Waaaayyy back in 2010 I announced a new flash project I was developing called Second Fiddle. The project didn't make it past the scripting and concept art stages, but I never let it go. In December of 2013 with a newborn and unemployed wife, I began writing a novel based on elements of the original script.

Today I'm happy to announce that this book, now called Heartspark, is being published sometime in the near future!

I'll post more here as news develops. Below is the offical book cover (which I was permitted to design myself), and I am also working on a animated book trailer, which is the first thing I've produced in Flash (I guess Animate now) in some time. And of course, I will be publishing it on Newgrounds first, since this is the place where I found the original inspiration to create this story.

Before you go out and see the Hollywood remake (probably) , see the original (also probably) here first.

Been a while since I've stopped by, but I noticed that the moderation team took down some of my videos – some of which have been on here for over a decade, including F.U.

My guess is that it was a crackdown on copyrighted music, though many of my older ones still contain such music. I would have guess that it was the popular ones that were targeted too, but one of them spared would be in violation and has 35,000 views. So what gives? I never even received an email notification that they were taken down.

I still have the .fla files (yes, some from 14 years ago) so I'd be willing to change the music and re-upload them if I knew for sure it is becuase of the music.

The quialty of people's videos has advanced so much that I wonder if those older videos would even pass through the modern portal.

Hey guys!

10 years ago was the release of the original F.U.! To celebrate, I just submitted a new episode (at the exact same time 10 years ago even). This is the first original F.U. episode since 2008's bombing of F.U.3, and my first submission since 2010.

If Newgrounds has used the same permalink number counter his entire time, there have been 410,410 submitted in these 10 years. Well done, everyone!

Originally we wanted to do a clip show, where each of the three core cast members picked their 10 favorite moments from the series. We had a list together, but realized soon after that production wasn't feasable as the different episodes were produced at different frame rates, and combining them into one file would be a pain.

Thank you all for your support! It was your kind words and encouragement that helped us to produce these videos. Your harsh words were also interesting.

Hi All!

Wanted to let you know that, after a five year absence, I have a new project in the works. With the 10 year anniversary of F.U. coming up I felt I needed to get something together real quick.

I had considred doing a clip show with mine and the crew's favorite 10 moments; however, because the different episodes were done a different frame rates, it was difficult to pull together. So I am producing an original piece.

Yes. It is F.U. and yes, it will voice the original cast. It will be short and probably more sentimental than funny, but we all need some of that in our lives, don't we?

Look for it July 8.

Got to watching some of my old videos today, as well as some of my old favorites. It surprises me now to see how much Perpetual Workday was inspired by MoreLikeBlue.

Anyhow, if you are new to the site in the last four years, you may have missed out on my best stuff. Below are my personal favorites:

Perpetual Tuesday | Sequel to Perpetual Workday, but with less than half the views. I felt this installment met the narritive I was trying to create in the series. There was production on a thrid one, but some of the key voice actors dropped out by this point.

Antiheroes | I regret now making this Halloween themed, which I did to get it into a collection. Think it could have done much better as a standalone project.

F.U.3 | This one is actually the second part of a seven part series (of only two had been released). It didn't do as well as I'd hoped and cancelled production of the rest. Still have the audio files from all 7 episodes.

F.U. 2 | I recommend watching to two-parter as it is a different cut that flows better if watched continuously. Either one is good though.

Of these movies, are there any you would like to see me expand on? I'm considering a return to Flash production.

Just noticed that I have been a user on Newgrounds for 10 years now. Actually two months and two days late in making this statement, but I feel it's still worth mentioning for milestone purposes. Haven't been active for a few years, and it's doubtful that will change any time soon, but I take solace in the memories I've made while on this site.

The successes and failures. The daily features and front page features I managed to achieve. It's really incredible to think about it now.

Looking at the videos at the site now remind me why I got out of the practice - the quality is just above and beyond what I can produce now. You guys are amazing. Just want to put that out there.

Hasn't been much going on in flash production land for me. I've done a few small things for local businesses in the area, but that's been about it. Not Newgrounds material.

I have posted the two completed Perpetual Workdays to YouTube. I know that's not exciting news since it takes away from here a little bit, but with nothing new coming out I need the extra exposure. Feel free to share.

Or, you know, you could always watch them here.

I'm not sure anyone still cares about Perpetual Workday, but there is a new one coming...eventually.
My projection is between May and 2013.

Regardless, here's a screen capture. Little by little it's getting there.
